Accomplished pianists and excellent singers, Victoria and Albert shared a passion for music. They were particularly keen on Mendelssohn and his music – and this celebratory concert on the weekend of Queen Victoria’s 200th anniversary, showcased works including the beautiful symphony-cantata Lobgesang (Hymn of Praise) and his ‘Reformation’ Symphony. The concert began with Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer, and included a short work composed by Prince Albert himself, ‘Ständchen’.
