Sir Karl Jenkins conducted his popular work The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace in the only performance conducted by Sir Karl in the UK in 2018. The music was performed against a backdrop of Hefin Owen’s film of The Armed Man. The concert included Samuel Bordoli’s The Great Silence, written in memory of choristers killed in the First World War, while the charity Remembered featured their 2018 Armistice installation ‘There But Not There’.
The evening was presented by the Royal Armouries, and  hosted by Lesley Garrett CBE, who performed songs that reflected the theme of Remembrance.
All proceeds from the event went to three outstanding charities working to support military veterans facing mental health challenges: Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and Heads Together – The Royal Foundation’s Campaign and Mental Health Initiative.
